Enkelbert Chinwada
Managing Director / Principal Geophysicist Consultant
Enkelbert Chinwada is the co-founder and Managing Director of Vortex Geoscience Consultancy (Zimbabwe and Zambia). With more than 27 years of experience, he has led and delivered over forty mineral, groundwater, and environmental projects across Africa, Australia, and beyond. His career spans long-term assignments in Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Madagascar, DR Congo, Ghana, Namibia, Somalia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, making him one of the region’s most accomplished geoscience leaders.
Mr. Chinwada holds an Executive MBA from Midlands State University, alongside advanced degrees in Exploration Geophysics, Water Resources Engineering and Management, and Physics & Mathematics from the University of Zimbabwe. His academic foundation is matched by extensive field expertise, particularly in aeromagnetic and remote sensing data processing, project design, and resource evaluation.
Previously, he served as Principal Geophysicist at Fugro Geophysics in Australia, where he played a pivotal role in exploration across the Copperbelt region of Zambia and the DRC. His work contributed directly to the discovery of the Katanga Mine (Kamoto Copper Company), one of Africa’s most significant copper deposits.
Role at Vortex Geoscience Consultancy:
- Coordinates all exploration activities across Zimbabwe and Zambia
- Oversees project design, resource allocation, and client liaison
- Ensures data quality management and office quality control
- Leads geophysical data processing, interpretation, and reporting
